The CD ... Compact Disc
For a
CD pressing you first need a
glass master. The glass master then contains the data to be copied.
Matrixes and
stampers are generated from data. The pressing process starts with the stamper, which is next pressed into a soft
polycarbonate to form a “data mould”. Simultaneously the CD is turned into its final standard form.
The silver effect is the result of an aluminium layer. This is the
reflective surface for the laser light of your CD or DVD drive. Then it is fixed with polycarbonate to protect the data.
In a second step colour is applied to one side. You can choose between
screen printing (with Pantone or HKS) and an
offset printing process with the CMYK European Scale.
Neben der
Vinyl-Optik-CD (siehe rechts) bieten wir Ihnen ein weiteres Design-Highlight.
The Sputter-CD. This Variante wird nur zum bis zu einem Durchmesser von 80mm mit der Aluminiumschicht ausgestattet. Allerdings kann der komplette Bereich von 118mm Durchmesser grafisch genutz werden.
Note: 20,000 CDs can be produced with a stamper. An endless number of stampers can be generated from the matrix. The glass mastering takes place one time only and needn’t be repeated. Therefore no further costs accrue. Stampers and matrixes will be stored for about 12 months, and when a further pressing takes place the storage time begins anew.
